From WW2 Archive.de

The Soldbuch was the German military pay book and personal identification document carried by servicemen during the Second World War. It contained personal, administrative, financial, medical, and military information, including the holder's photograph, rank, unit, issued equipment, hospital treatment, leave, and awards.

The Soldbücher in this category are presented as historical sources. Their stamps, handwritten entries, corrections, and inserted documents can help reconstruct the service histories and personal experiences of individual servicemen.

Because entries may be abbreviated, incomplete, or difficult to read, interpretations should whenever possible be compared with Wehrpässe, archival records, casualty files, photographs, and other contemporary sources.
